In & Around
The historical profile of Pachmarhi is fairly represented in the rock painting and the pristine caves. Pachmadhi (five huts), from which Pachmarhi derives its name, is a set of live caves (Pandav), which local Brahminical tradition claims as one of the places where the Pandavas sojourned during their wandering (Agyatvasa). Archeologists, however, affirm that these caves are of Budhdhist origin, and a link between Sanchi & Ajanta.
